Latest Nikon Zoom Lenses News

Photographic evidence
A high-end model would go all in, with a real strobe flash, a threaded lens mount (maybe even an integrated power zoom) and one or two mechanical function buttons, all communicating with a camera app via the iPhone's dock connector.

SLR lookalike needs only one lens
This would eliminate the need to lug around multiple lenses and is so much more convenient. Enter Fujifilm's X-S1, an SLR lookalike with one versatile lens, that could well fit the bill. It is a 12-megapixel camera with 26x optical zoom that can zoom

Review: Canon PowerShot S100
At 26995, it's more expensive than many DSLRs like the Canon 1100D and Nikon D3000 (which are roughly 25000 including an 18-55 mm lens). You could also pay as less as 16990 and still get a compact camera with CMOS sensor, manual exposure control,

Can I fit my old Nikon lenses onto a new digital camera with or without an adaptor?

Question by nadaklan: Can I fit my old Nikon lenses onto a new digital camera with or without an adaptor?
The Lenses I have are:
Nikon AF 70-210mm f/4-5.6 D Zoom-Nikkor
Nikon AF 35-70mm f/2.8D

Could they be adapted to a new Nikon digital camera? If so, what models?

Also, would it be possible to somehow use an adapter to put them onto the Cannon Digital Rebel XT?

Thanks.

Yes. The Nikon lens will mount on new Nikon digital cameras. Not sure about AF funtions, might have to use in manual mode. Take lens with you to camera store. They can tell you.

Which zoom lenses can I get for my Nikon D40?

Question by sloth: Which zoom lenses can I get for my Nikon D40?
I got one extra nikkor lens DX that has a range of 55-200m.
What other lens can I get for a D40.
I want one to take pictures of the night sky

thanks!

Answer by thankyoumaskedman
The best kind of lens for photographing the night sky would be a wide angle prime focus lens. For one thing this gives you a pretty wide aperture available. Also the focus can be manually dialed to infinity. Unfortunately the available lenses of this type will be manual focus only with the D40.
You could get by with your 18-55mm kit lens. Set the focal length to 18mm and aperture to f3.5. Find something bright enough on the horizon to lock in the autofocus to infinity. Then turn the autofocus switch to manual and avoid changing the focus setting. A shutter speed of 30 seconds will probably show very little visible star trailing at most displays, although some will be visible at 100% resolution.
Set the white balance to daylight.
The Nikon 18-200mm has a distance scale, but it is unreliable for dialing in infinity focus. The lens is not parfocal, and changes of focal length change the focus.

For very long exposures an old fashioned film camera with mechanical locking cable release could be best. In experiments that I did a few years ago with my Nikon D50 I found that at ISO 400, even with long exposure noise reduction turned on, hot pixel speckles start appearing after about 5 minutes. At 30 minutes (the maximum possible in bulb with the infrared remote) it looks like it’s raining confetti. Another thing I noticed in experiments I did upgraded to a D60 is that some subtle nebulosity seems to fail to register. For example, in a 30 second exposure under dark sky the D60 could pick up more stars than my eye could see, but the Milky Way, visible to my eye, did not show up in the digital image.

Is their a reason why my computer will not read RAW files from my Nikon D 90?

Question by catherineann6942: Is their a reason why my computer will not read RAW files from my Nikon D 90?
I recently purchased a D90, I tried to upload my NEF (RAW) files onto my Windows laptop, which has Vista on it and it will not load up to a picture. The thumbnails come up but the pictures themselves do not show up when opened. Does anyone know if there is a software to download to keep the files RAW and open them, a decoder or something along that line??

Answer by AWriterWandering
Raws are not really images. Just image data from the digital sensor (think of it almost like a film negative). You need a “Raw converter” to turn them into something usable. If you have Photoshop (Elements or CS~), it has one built in. There is also a trial version of Nikon’s own software, Capture NX, on the included CD.

Oh, and BTW whatever Raw converter you use will need to be fairly up to date. As every time a new camera is released, it uses a slightly different Raw file (even those from the same brand).

What zoom does the Nikon 1 J 1 two lenses zoom kit have?

Question by icecream123: What zoom does the Nikon 1 J 1 two lenses zoom kit have?
so the nikon 1 j 1 mirrorsless camera with the two lens zoom kit comes with two lenses.
Can someone tell me what the zoom is for each lens?
(I want to know what x zoom it is. Like, 3x zoom. I don’t know how to convert mm’s into x zooms)

Nikon 1 J1 (Two Lens Zoom Kit)
-NIKKOR 10-30mm f/3.5 – 5.6 VR lens
-NIKKOR 30-110mm f/3.8 – 5.6 VR lens

please please help!

Answer by George Y
Basic math applies here. A 10-30mm zoom is a 3x as 3x 10mm = 30mm. The 30-110mm zoom is a 3.67x because 30mm x 3.67 = 110mm. The two lenses together equal a 11x zoom

If You Are On A Boat A Lot, Any VR Lens Will Help you Out A Lot. Just Be Wary Of Your Lenses, A Decent Lens Is The Nikon DX 16-85 VR F2.8, It Gives you A Good Wide Angle With A Bit Of Telephoto. A Lens I Am Personaly Partial To Is The 70-300 VR 3.5-5.8 Lens. Though It Might Not Be The Best While On A Boat Ride And On Choppy Seas. But It Is Still A NIce Tele Lens.

As For The D300s Over The D90, Good Choice, But If You Can Find A New D300, It Might Be A Better Buy For You. You Lose Video, But Thats Not A Large Loss, Sine You Should Save About 300 Dollars And Video Is Still New… No Auto Focus In Movie Mode, Least Not Yet,

I Hope This Helps And Happy Shooting.
